Local Planning Appeal Tribunal Rescheduling Settlement HearingsApril 3, 2020
Starting on April 6, the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT) is scheduling settlement hearings through teleconference or written submissions, on a case-by-case basis.
Parties interested in settlement hearings must submit a Settlement Request Form as well as a list of filing materials, demonstrating that there would be no prejudice to any party if LPAT were to proceed by teleconference or written submissions.
The form should include:
- specifics on how the principle of physical distancing will be strictly adhered to for all the steps necessary to present the settlement to LPAT through teleconference or written submissions.
- suggestions for technological support that may facilitate the presentation of the settlement.
LPAT will respond to requests for a settlement hearing and issue any directions when appropriate, including, if necessary, directions for email notice.
All front-line counter services remain closed. If parties submit documents by mail or courier, they will experience processing delays. Documents, other than appeal records, may be filed electronically.
Tribunals Ontario is continuing to monitor COVID-19 developments and will inform Ontarians and stakeholders of any further operational changes.
